CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As a leading listed property company in South Africa, Growthpoint Properties has values deeply embedded in our business activities and decisions.

Our end goal is always to ensure that we remain a corporate citizen who can demonstrate our responsibility to our internal and external stakeholders.

Our commitment to our investors, staff, tenants, suppliers, and the South African community remains our driving force to ensure that we have a positive impact.

FLAGSHIP PROJECTS

Growsmart

The Growsmart Educational Programme was started in 2009 in partnership with the Western Cape Department of Education.

Today, Growsmart has expanded to the Eastern Cape and Limpopo and aims to change learning behaviours with fun, interactive, online and project-based inter-school/inter-grade competitions in Literacy, Story Writing (Creative Writing) and Mathematics for learners in Grades 4, 5, and 6. In addition, the programme is also piloting a grade 6 Entrepreneurship Competition in the Western Cape.

FLAGSHIP PROJECTS

Growthpoint Staff Engagement

Our staff are empowered to enrich the lives of the communities around them. To demonstrate this commitment to volunteerism, each staff member is allocated eight hours a year towards community engagement.

The staff volunteerism program called G2 (also known as Growthpoint Gives) is an action-oriented initiative that allows staff to participate in various organised projects.

FLAGSHIP PROJECTS

Gems

Growthpoint has an internal staff benefit educational programme for lower-income earning staff to enable access to quality education for their children. The program covers the cost of tuition, books, transport and extramural activities.

The program has also gained valuable insights into the socio-economic issues facing multiple homes in South Africa, where children receive inadequate support in their current schools and battle learning gaps in fundamental subjects. The program includes psychosocial, academic, leadership, and parental support to respond to these challenges.

TRANSFORMATION

As the first JSE-listed REIT to achieve a Level One B-BBEE Contributor certification according to Property Sector Codes, Growthpoint Properties is committed to the principles of social and economic transformation and empowerment on all levels. We drive transformation by investing in people and skills that will grow our business, our sector and South Africa.

The Property Sector Charter constitutes the framework for transformation in the property sector, and Growthpoint is committed to its implementation in our business. Going beyond this, we embrace the intention behind it.
