Flagship Projects

The Growsmart Educational Programme was started in 2009 in partnership with the Western Cape Department of Education. Today, Growsmart has expanded to the Eastern Cape and Limpopo and aims to change learning behaviours with fun, interactive, online and project-based inter-school/inter-grade competitions in Literacy, Story Writing (Creative Writing) and Mathematics for learners in Grades 4, 5, and 6. In addition, the programme is also piloting a grade 6 Entrepreneurship Competition in the Western Cape.

Growthpoint has an internal staff benefit educational programme for lower-income earning staff, to enable access to quality education for their children. The program covers the cost of tuition, books, transport and extramural activities. The program has also gained valuable insights into the socio-economic issues that are facing multiple homes in South Africa, where children receive inadequate support in their current schools and battle with learning gaps in fundamental subjects. To respond to these challenges, the program includes psychosocial, academic, leadership and parental support.

Our staff are empowered to enrich the lives of the communities around them. To demonstrate this commitment to volunteerism, each staff member is allocated eight hours in a year towards community engagement. The staff volunteerism program called G’ (also known as Growthpoint Gives), is an action-oriented initiative that allows staff to participate in various organised projects.
